VIRAC, Catanduanes — At least 69 families, composing 231 individuals, were evacuated from the coastal village of Talisoy in Virac town in Catanduanes province on Tuesday night (April 11) due to inclement weather brought on by Tropical Depression Amang.

Mark Matira, operations chief of Virac Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), said in a report on Wednesday that 40 private houses and a barangay chapel were used as evacuation centers in Talisoy village to shelter the evacuees.

But Matira added that the distribution of evacuees in the evacuation centers and the time of the preemptive evacuation were not reported to them.

He also said that all evacuees returned to their homes on Wednesday.

In its 5 p.m. tropical cyclone bulletin, Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that Amang made landfall at Lagonoy, Camarines Sur, at 4 p.m., maintaining its maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 55 kph.

Pagasa also hoisted Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 1 over Catanduanes, Sorsogon, Albay, Camarines Sur, Camarines Norte, Ticao Island, Burias Island, the eastern portion of Laguna (San Pablo City, Rizal, Nagcarlan, Pila, Liliw, Magdalena, Majayjay, Luisiana, Cavinti, Pagsanjan, Santa Cruz, Lumban, Kalayaan, Paete, Pakil, Pangil, Siniloan, Famy, Santa Maria, Mabitac), Aurora, Quezon, and the eastern portion of Rizal (Tanay, Pililla, Jala-Jala).
