LEGAZPI CITY — Work in government and private offices in Camarines Norte and Catanduanes were suspended on Wednesday, April 12, due to heavy rains brought by Tropical Depression Amang, which authorities fear could cause severe flooding.
Camarines Norte Governor Ricarte Padilla said in an advisory, however, that government offices involved in vital and emergency response would remain operational to ensure continuous public service.
In Catanduanes, Governor Joseph Cua also declared suspension of work in government offices while the suspension in private offices and establishments was left to the discretion of their respective heads.
Classes in all levels, both in public and private schools, in Catanduanes remain suspended since Tuesday, April 11.
Classes were also still suspended in Camarines provinces, Albay, and Sorsogon.
In mainland Masbate, classes resumed on Wednesday morning after the Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal (TCWS) No. 1 was lifted in the province.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said “Amang” was last located over the coastal waters of Virac, Catandaunes with maximum sustained winds of 45 kph and gustiness of up to 55 kph.
TCWS No. 1 remained hoisted in Catanduanes, Sorsogon, Albay, Camarines Sur, Camarines Norte, Ticao Island, Burias Island, the eastern portion of Laguna (San Pablo City, Rizal, Nagcarlan, Pila, Liliw, Magdalena, Majayjay, Luisiana, Cavinti, Pagsanjan, Santa Cruz, Lumban, Kalayaan, Paete, Pakil, Pangil, Siniloan, Famy, Santa Maria, Mabitac), Aurora, Quezon, and the eastern portion of Rizal (Tanay, Pililla, Jala-Jala).
