Cops nab two suspects involved in illegal drugs, gambling in Makati City
MANILA, Philippines — Authorities have arrested two drug suspects in Makati City due to illegal drugs and gambling, the police said on Tuesday.
In a statement, the Southern Police District (SPD) said a concerned male citizen riding a bike approached and told them about a group of individuals involved in illegal gambling activities.
Based on the report, the Makati City Police Station immediately deployed its police personnel at Laperal Compound, Bernardino Street, Barangay Guadalupe Viejo, where they saw a group of men gambling.
Other men in the group escaped while suspects Gemy Batoy, 26, and Alias Nathaniel, 18, were collared and identified by the Makati City Police Station personnel on April 10.
Aside from their involvement with illegal gambling activities, the police also uncovered four sachets or 62.5 grams of suspected crystal meth or “shabu” with an estimated value of P425,000, bet money worth P1,040, and three pieces of coins used as flippers.
Article continues after this advertisementFollowing their arrest and the confiscation of illegal narcotics, suspects were brought to Poblacion Police Substation. They will face complaints for violating Presidential Decree 1602 (illegal gambling) and Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
