LEGAZPI CITY – The number of stranded passengers in Bicol ports rose to 998 on Tuesday afternoon (April 11) after the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Bicol suspended all sea trips due to the threat of the Tropical Depression “Amang.”
As of 4 p.m., PCG Bicol said 15 passengers, nine rolling cargoes and a vessel were stranded in San Andres port in Catanduanes.
About 330 passengers, 12 rolling cargoes and three vessels going to Catanduanes were also stranded in Tabaco City port in Albay province.
Also stranded in Pio Duran port in Albay were 86 persons, 21 rolling cargoes and a vessel going to Masbate province.
In Sorsogon, 548 passengers, 188 rolling cargoes and five vessels were also prevented from traveling in Matnog port while 19 passengers in Pilar port.
At 12 noon, the Land Transportation Office Bicol suspended the land travel of vehicles going to islands of Masbate, Catanduanes, Visayas and Mindanao to avoid congestion along Maharlika Highway and ports in Matnog, Tabaco City, Pilar and Pio Duran.
