MANILA, Philippines — The Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) on Tuesday said that it has launched a chatbot assistant to help process different types of complaints, including cybercrimes.
The CICC, which is an attached agency of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), said that the chatbot is called CYRI.
“Through CYRI, we can immediately get complaints and concerns related to cybercrimes, data privacy and SIM registration…our agents on duty can immediately advise or act on a complaint 24/7,” said CICC Executive Director Alexander K. Ramos in a statement.
This is part of the Center’s efforts to combat online crimes.
According to the CICC, CYRI can entertain complaints in both English and Filipino, with other languages like Cebuano and Ilocano to be included soon.
People can soon choose the language that they understand and they can relate with and feel more confident in answering the questions,” Ramos said.
The CICC assured that the user’s identity is protected as part of the Council’s privacy policy.
“The prevention and suppression of cybercrime is the main mission of CICC which was established based on the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012 or Republic Act 10175,” said the agency in a statement.
The chatbot can be accessed through the CICC’s Facebook page.
