LUCENA CITY — Police arrested an alleged notorious illegal drug trafficker who yielded more than P241,000 worth of “shabu” (crystal meth) and an unlicensed firearm in Catanauan town in Quezon province on Sunday, April 9.
Col. Ledon Monte, Quezon police chief, said anti-illegal drugs operatives served a search warrant against Apolinario Sipocot, 59, in Barangay Sta. Maria Dao at around 5 p.m.
The authorities reportedly found eight plastic sachets of meth with an estimated street value of P241,944 and shabu-sniffing paraphernalia.
The police also found an undocumented caliber .45 pistol loaded with eight bullets from the suspect, who was tagged as SLI (street-level individuals) on the drug watch list.
Drug syndicates are arming some of their peddlers for protection, aside from providing free supplies of illegal drugs for personal use as incentives, according to a veteran anti-narcotics operative.
The suspect was placed under police custody and would face charges of violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and another case for illegal possession of a firearm. INQ
