Real state broker nabbed over poisoning case

A REAL state broker was accused of poisoning  two fellow brokers in barangay Sambag Uno, Cebu City.

Police said frustrated murder charges are set to be filed against Artemio Baluyos.

One of the victims, Dina Seraspe, 72, remained in critical condition in a Cebu City hospital, said police.

The other broker, Margarita Cimafranca, said they suspect that Baluyos tried to poison them out of envy.

Cimafranca said she and Seraspe were working on a property that they were about to sell.

Cimafranca said they  discussed work over a cup of coffee in Seraspe’s house on P. Del Rosario Extension on Tuesday morning.

She said she saw Baluyos put a substance in a kettle filled with water used for making the coffee.

After drinking the coffee, Cimafranca said they became dizzy and fainted.

Both were rushed to the hospital. When she regained consciousness, Cimafranca reported the incident to the police, who then arrested Baluyos.

The kettle and a samples of the coffee were submitted to the Bureau of Food and Drugs for examination, said police. /CORRESPONDENT CHITO O. ARAGON
