Ang Tibay Mo captures 3rd win

ANG Tibay Mo beat undermanned Allyn & Sons, 99-95, Tuesday night to log its third straight win and the early lead in the elimination round of the Power Forty Ball Club-2012 President’s Cup summer basketball tournament at the Emilio Jaca Memorial gym in barangay Inayawan, Cebu City.

Ang Tibay Mo jumped to a big, 31-16 lead in the opening period behind 6-foot-4 center Jun Sumargo and Hermes Abasolo. But Allyn & Sons responded with a blistering 31-19 run to close-in at 47-50 at the half.

Both camps fought on even terms in the 3rd and 4th periods resulting in an 83-all deadlock with three minutes remaining in the match.

However, Ang Tibay Mo mainstays Sumargo and Rey Mabalcon hit crucial shots and freethrows at endgame to beat the winless Allyn & Sons.

In the main game, Water Market nosed out Park N’ Go, 102-96, to improve to 2-1, while the latter dropped to 1-1.  /Correspondent Dale Rosal
