PCG helps injured Filipino crew member of a UK vessel

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said on Thursday that it assisted an injured Filipino crew member of a United Kingdom vessel Motor Tanker Kmarin Diamond.

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said on Thursday that it assisted an injured Filipino crew member of the United Kingdom Motor Tanker Kmarin Diamond.

Trinidad Nivardo Fabon Jr., a 55-year-old individual, sustained injuries while working on board an international vessel. The details of how Fabon received these injuries have not been disclosed by the PCG.

“The [PCG] conducted a medical evacuation to assist a wounded ship crew of a foreign-flagged vessel, MT Kmarin Diamond (United Kingdom), in the vicinity waters off Parola De Labuan, Zamboanga City, on 3 April 2023,” said the PCG said in a statement.

According to a separate statement by the Coast Guard District Southwestern Mindanao (CDGSWM), their PCG unit was the one that received reports of an injured crew member.

After reaching the vessel, the CDGSWM conducted Medical Evacuation (Medevac). This was followed by the vessel’s local shipping agent arranging an ambulance to transport the patient to the nearest hospital.

“The Medevac Team reached [the] Port of Zamboanga City and Bureau of Quarantine Ambulance transported the patient to Brent Hospital for needed immediate medical attention,” said the CDGSWM.
