3 dead, 7 injured in Quezon jeepney crash 

All sea travels in Quezon province were suspended on Monday (Feb. 27) due to a gale warning over the eastern seaboards of Luzon brought by the strong northeast monsoon locally known as "amihan."

LUCENA CITY – Three persons  died while seven others were injured when a passenger jeep fell into a creek in Macalelon, Quezon on Saturday.

The Quezon police on Sunday said that the jeepney was in Barangay (village) San Nicolas when its driver, Noel Orillenida II, lost control of the vehicle.

The jeepney, which was also loaded with coconuts, eventually fell into the the creek.

Two minor male passengers, the son and nephew of the driver,  died on the spot.

The injured passengers were brought to hospital in neighboring Gumaca town but Melvin Villaraza expired on the way.

Aside from the jeepney driver, the other injured passengers –  Alex Villaraza, Nelanie Orillenida, Mark Anthony Abarico, Romnick Crespo, and two other male minors, are still in the hospital as of posting time.

Further investigation is ongoing, police said.
