Girl dead, 5 others hurt in truck-car collision along Davao de Oro road
TAGUM CITY — A 14-year-old girl died, and five others were injured Friday when a dump truck hit a pickup truck along the national highway in Mawab town, Davao de Oro, the police said.
The mishap happened as a black Ford Ranger pickup truck, with plate number NFD-3471, driven by Allan Joy Retardo was traveling around 1:45 p.m. along the Pan-Philippine Highway from Maragusan town going to Tagum City, said Davao region police spokesperson Major Eudisan Gultiano. He was quoting a Mawab police report.
The pickup, which was traversing a curve at Purok 9, Tuboran village, was hit by an oncoming Howo dump truck, which had veered off its lane, police said.
Fourteen-year-old Camella Jaye Tagalog, one of the car’s passengers, died at the scene due to injuries.
Her nanny, Eliza Ruby Carballo, 42, and four others were hurt and rushed by Mawab disaster responders to the Davao de Oro Provincial Hospital in Montevista town.
