MANILA, Philippines — For this year’s Holy Week, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. plans to have a quiet time for himself and his family.

Marcos said he intends to go into retreat for a few days and spend Easter Sunday with his family — which is what they have been doing on Holy Week every year.

“Ako, simple lang, I’ll do what I do every year — I go into retreat for a few days, and then I’ll spend Easter with my family,” he said in a chance interview in Bataan when asked about his plans for the Holy Week.

Marcos said the government has been preparing for this year’s observance of the Holy Week to “make sure that everybody’s comfortable and that they can get to where they want as quickly as possible.”

He said the government needs additional preparation for the heat of the Holy Week.

“We have been preparing already for a while but nadagdagan lang ‘yung ating preparasyon dahil biglang uminit. We have to make everybody, make sure that everybody’s comfortable [and] that they can get to where they want as quickly as possible,” the President said.

(Our preparations have added up since the heat from the weather suddenly came.)

“Sa palagay ko naman nakahanda naman kami,” he added.

(I think we’re ready.)

Malacañang earlier declared April 6 and 7 as regular holidays in observance of Maundy Thursday and Good Friday.
