Severed body parts found in 2 sacks belong to butcher—police

NAGA CITY, Philippines—The dismembered remains of a man which were found stuffed inside two sacks by children playing along a creek in a village here late Monday belonged to a butcher, a police official said Wednesday morning.

SPO4 Elmer Pitallano, Naga City Police spokesperson, said three brothers identified the severed body parts as those of their sibling, Loreto Murillo Jr., 36, a butcher of Lehman Meatshop in Magsaysay Avenue here, through the tattoos on the left wrist and right thigh.

Pitallano said Murillo, who lived in Sitio Caromatig in the upland village of Carolina, had been missing since March 29 and was reported in the blotter of the police station there.

Residents of Barangay Cararayan reported the grisly discovery to the police late Monday after the children playing near the creek found two sacks emitting foul odor that turned out to contain the body parts. Two legs and two arms were found in one sack and a torso in the other but the head remains missing.

Authorities said an investigation was ongoing to identify the suspects and determine motive behind the crime.
