MANILA, Philippines — The temperature range in Metro Manila until the weekend can reach up to 34 degrees Celsius, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) on Wednesday.
“Temperatura naman mula Friday hanggang Sunday sa Metro Manila, inaasahan maglalaro mula 23 to 34 degrees Celsius,” Pagasa weather forecast Rhea Torres said in the agency’s afternoon weather report.
(Temperature from Friday to Sunday in Metro Manila is expected to range around 23 to 34 degrees Celsius.)
Here are Thursday’s projected temperature ranges in the following areas, according to Pagasa:
- Metro Manila: 24 to 34 degrees Celsius
- Tagaytay City: 21 to 31 degrees Celsius
- Baguio City: 17 to 26 degrees Celsius
- Laoag City: 24 to 33 degrees Celsius
- Legazpi City: 24 to 32 degrees Celsius
- Tugegarao City: 24 to 34 degrees Celsius
- Puerto Princesa City: 26 to 33 degrees Celsius
- Cebu: 25 to 32 degrees Celsius
- Tacloban: 24 to 33 degrees Celsius
- Iloilo: 26 to 32 degrees Celsius
- Zamboanga City: 24 to 34 degrees Celsius
- Cagayan de Oro: 24 to 32 degrees Celsius
- Davao City: 24 to 34 degrees Celsius
According to Pagasa, the hot easterlies, or the wind coming from the Pacific Ocean, will affect the eastern sections of Visayas and Mindanao for Thursday.
“Ibig sabihin po nito ay generally fair weather conditions po tayo sa malaking bahagi ng ating bansa, ngunit mas malaki yung tsansa na makakaranas tayo ng isolated o pulo-pulong pag-ulan, pagkidlat at pagkulog lalung-lalo na dito sa eastern section ng Visayas at Mindanao,” Torres said.
(This means that we will have generally fair weather conditions in the country, but there is a large chance that we will experience isolated or scattered rain, lightning and thunderstorm especially in the eastern section of Visayas and Mindanao.)
Pagasa also identified the day’s hottest temperature at 42 degrees Celsius in Dagupan City, Pangasinan.
Combined with 56 percent relative humidity, the state weather bureau said that the temperature range has been hazardous to the heath of individuals, as heat cramps and heat exhaustion are likely.
