MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Railways (PNR) on Tuesday announced that it would suspend its operations on Holy Week, from April 6 to 9, to give way for regular maintenance.

Regular operations will then return on April 10, according to the PNR in a statement.

“Itinaon ng PNR sa Semana Santa ang taunang maintenance para hindi maka-apekto ang paghinto ng biyahe sa mga pasahero nito,” said the PNR.

(PNR scheduled the Holy Week with its annual maintenance so that the suspension of operations would not affect its passengers.)

Meanwhile, regular operations will remain from April 1 until April 5, with PNR deploying additional personnel to ensure the safe and smooth flow of its operations, especially as the observance of Holy Week draws nearer.

The PNR also said that it had allocated help desks to each of its stations, while a nurse on duty has been assigned at the PNR Tutuban Clinic.

“Track walkers” have also been placed to monitor tracks to ensure that trains can pass through them safely, while quick response teams have been deployed in Manila, Laguna, Lucena, and Naga.
