1 cop hurt in Masbate bomb blast
MASBATE CITY — A police officer was injured after an improvised explosive device (IED) exploded on Monday night in Uson town in Masbate province, a report said Tuesday, March 28.
The explosion occurred around 9:40 p.m. along the national highway in Barangay Marcella in Uson town, where the 2nd Masbate Provincial Mobile Force Company (MPMFC) personnel are stationed, a report by the Uson police revealed.
The Uson police said the 2nd MPMFC personnel, led by Police Major Carlos Estonilo Jr., were providing security to newly deployed personnel in the area, when the blash struck them.
Patrolman Ragan Victor of the 4th Platoon, 2nd MPMFC of Cataingan town, suffered injuries during the incident.
He was taken to the Armenia Detachment in Armenia village in the same town to receive medical attention.

This incident is the latest in a string of explosions caused by IEDs that have occurred in the third district of Masbate, particularly the towns of Cawayan, Dimasalang and Placer, since March 20.
