Over 21,000 motorists warned during Commonwealth Ave. motorcycle lane dry run — MMDA

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has announced the week-long extension of the dry run for the exclusive motorcycle lane along Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City.

MANILA, Philippines — A total of 21,676 drivers who violated the motorcycle lane rule along Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City were warned during the two-week-long dry run from March 9 to 26, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said on Monday.

Data shared by the MMDA showed that 16,916  private vehicle drivers entered the exclusive motorcycle lane, while 4,760 motorcycle riders  went out of their designated lane.

MMDA officially implement the policy on Monday, March 27.

Private vehicle drivers who violate the new rule would be slapped with a P500 fine, while public utility vehicle drivers will have to shell out P1,200, according to MMDA.

 If proven to be successful, the MMDA said it might designate dedicated motorcycle lanes on other major thoroughfares.
