Public hearing on fare rate hike

A public hearing is set this afternoon for the proposed P1.50 fare increase petition for passenger jeepneys.

The 2 p.m. forum is set  at the Cebu Normal University (CNU) Auditorium.

The Cebu Integrated Transport Services Cooperative will file the petition for the P1.50 increase.

The petition would raise minimum PUJ fare from the current P7.50 to P9.00.  The LTFRB Manila office last month approved a proivisional P.50 fare rate increase.

An LTFRB public hearing on the P7.50 fare last December 2010 attracted only 10 people, said LTFRB Regional Director Ahmed Cuizon.

Market revenue  increase

ONLY a month after it started accepting stall rentals, the Mandaue City market earned nearly P3 million.

A  two-month moratorium for all  renters expired last April 8. They started paying their daily rentals of P40 to P70 a day on a monthly basis, said Mandaue City market administrator, Mosuline Suliva.
