MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) urges the public to coordinate with it whenever they hold fire drills in order to avoid a repetition of the incident in a Laguna school where around a hundred students had to be rushed to hospitals after a surprise fire drill.

“In as much as the BFP encourages people’s participation in its effort to spread fire safety awareness to the public, we highly encourage that said drills and activities be duly coordinated with the local fire station to ensure orderly and safe conduct,” it said in a statement on Friday.

The drill was held by the Gulod National High School in Cabuyao City around lunchtime and lasted for almost two hours.
