Rama not worried about funds for 2013 team

ELECTION funds should not be a problem for Team Rama members, said Mayor Michael Rama, since   Cebuanos will help once they see the sincerity and willingness of the candidates.

“People’s support will create the necessary engine and help will just come in,” Rama said.

He cited the President Benigno Aquino’s victory  in the 2010  presidential elections despite  minimal resources.

He said the  Liberal Party (LP) was unable to give a big  amount to Bando Osmeña-Pundok Kauswagan (BO-PK) for the elections.

Still BO-PK, where Rama used to belong, managed to get a landslide victory in the 2010 elections.

“At the end of the day, money matters should be a last concern,” he said.

Team Rama has completed its slate for the south district but still lacks a congressional candidate for the north district.

Sylvan Jakosalem, City Traffic Operations and Management (Citom) board chairman and former councilor, said he was seriously considering Rama’s offer to field him for the north district.

But Jakosalem said he has to know if they have enough resources to launch a congressional campaign against the Del Mars who have dominated the district for more than 10 years.

Team Rama is also considering former Lahug barangay captain and now councilor Mary Ann delos Santos.

Jakosalem and Delos Santos came out as top choices  in a secret balloting among Team Rama members last month.

Mayor Rama, however, wouldn’t say  who among the two he would favor. /Chief Of Reporters Doris Bongcac
