LEGAZPI CITY — The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) will build in the Bicol region where a regional center will rise at the Rawis village in this city.

Lawyer Menardo de Lemos, NBI director, Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) officials, and the Ako Bicol Party-list (AKB), led the ground-breaking ceremony around 10 a.m.

“We are thankful to [AKB] Rep. Elizaldy Co, committee chair on appropriations, for allocating funds for the construction of the three storey regional office. This is a milestone for the NBI, finally realizing the dream to have the establishment [in a building here],” De Lemos said.

He said the office will be operational and serve the public in two to three years.

“This is one of a kind, the first and the biggest so far, not only in the Bicol area but in the entire nation as well,” De Lemos added.

He said the P250 million worth of building will also serve as a site for activities and will serve as a training center for aspiring NBI agents.

“The personnel will become more efficient with their new work place and the clients, as well, [will benefit] wherein there’s convenience whenever they have transactions,” he stressed. Michael B. Jaucian, INQ
