/ 05:06 AM March 23, 2023

Police are now hunting the leader of a Taiwanese crime syndicate after a large cache of firearms and hundreds of rounds of ammunition were seized during a raid on his condominium unit in Makati City on Monday night. Jiang Zhang Xiadong, also known as “Liu Ming Chung,” was not present during the raid by agents of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in a commercial area in Barangay Poblacion. Confiscated were 13 rifles, seven submachine guns, 65 hand guns and boxes of ammunition. On Tuesday, Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos said the raid was conducted as part of Oplan Paglalansag Omega, a campaign against unlicensed firearms. —Dexter Cabalza
