MANILA, Philippines — The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) unveiled its first mosque for its Muslim personnel in Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City on Wednesday, on the eve of the first day of Ramadan.

“We recognize the contribution of our Muslim brothers in our service to the country. The construction of the first masjid [the Arabic word for ‘mosque’] inside Camp Bagong Diwa symbolizes our patronage and respect for their faith,” Maj. Gen. Alan Okubo, the NCRPO chief, said in Filipino, according to a statement.

The newly-constructed mosque is at the 7th Mobile Force Company building.

Okubo said it was built in line with Kasimbayanan (Kapulisan, Simbahan, at Pamayanan — or Police, Church, and Citizenry), the revitalized internal cleansing program. of the Philippine National Police.

“Your leadership is offering this place of prayer so that your spiritual beliefs can flourish and develop,” Okubo said.

“We also wish that the love and the good examples of the Creator will become the source of inspiration for all of us so that we never stray from our path or do something we may regret in the end.”
