Ex-teacher killed as fire razes house in Valenzuela

A former grade school teacher was killed when a fire gutted her house Tuesday morning in Valenzuela City.

FO1 Julius Vazquez of the city  central fire station identified the victim as Marivic Meneses, 52. According to her neighbors, the former teacher of Marulas Elementary School was mentally incapacitated.

Meneses was at the second floor of her house at the corner of Second and Magsaysay Streets when the fire broke out at 7:26 a.m.

Firefighters later found her badly burnt body.

The blaze, which only reached the first alarm, was put out at 8:11 a.m. Its cause has yet to be determined although Vazquez said it was most likely due to faulty electric wiring.

He was quick to clarify, however, that no official report has been submitted by fire investigators yet.

The damage to property had also yet to be determined at press time.
