He’s just in Southeast Asia, Remulla says of Teves whereabouts

MANILA, Philippines — Negros Oriental Rep. Arnolfo Teves Jr. is just somewhere within Southeast Asia, Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla said Monday and advised his former colleague from Congress to go home if he really has nothing to do with the death of Governor Roel Degamo and eight others.

“We have monitoring…He is in Southeast Asia,” Remulla told reporters in an ambush interview during the culminating activity for the release of 401 persons deprived of liberty.

“I would advise him to go home. Kung talagang wala syang kasalanan, lalabas sya [If he really did nothing with (the Degamo slay case), he’ll surface] ,” Remulla added.

Remulla admitted that Teves is among those subject to an investigation for the Degamo killings, so they will request the International Criminal Police to put him on Blue Notice.

“A person under investigation for a crime may be put on blue notice. So, admittedly, he [Teves] is under investigation for the Degamo murder and other people. We will put him on Blue Notice,” Remulla said.

In a social media post, Teves has already denied involvement in the killing of Degamo.

Teves went on medical leave, but the travel authority given to him by the House of Representatives expired last March 9.
