Classes in private, public elementary, high schools suspended for Friday
MANILA, Philippines—The Department of Education National Capital Region office has suspended classes in all private and public elementary and high schools in Metro Manila, which are scheduled for Friday.
DepEd NCR Director Elena Ruiz said in a phone interview that she decided to suspend classes as the weather forecast for Friday projected heavy rains all over the metro.
“I have already suspended classes in public and private schools. We consulted, got the latest from Pagasa (weather bureau, Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration) and we asked for the forecast of the volume of rain tomorrow,” Ruiz said on Thursday night.
“It’s for the safety of the children,” she said.
