5 women centenarians receive P50,000 cash incentives in Albay

LIGAO CITY — The provincial government of Albay has awarded a check to five women for P50,000 each as an incentive for reaching the age of 100 years old.

Governor Greco “Grex” Lagman, along with provincial social welfare development representatives, on March 16, personally handed the gift incentives to Romualda Nogot of Libod village and Magdalena Marquez of Quirangay village, both from Camalig town; Remedios Maceda of San Vicente Pequeña village in the municipality of Daraga; and Beatriz Muñoz of EMs Barrio village and Floriana Montas of Bitano village, both from Legazpi City.

Aside from money, the centenarians were also given certificates of recognition, a post by Lagman on his social media page said Sunday, March 19.

“Well, out of curiosity I asked them what was their secret in reaching 100 years of existence. They said always pray and eat everything in moderation, be happy, and don’t worry too much,” Lagman said in his Facebook post.

The centenarians will also soon receive another P100,000 from the national government in accordance with the “Centenarians Act of 2016” or Republic Act 10868.

According to the law, centenarians “residing in the country or abroad, are entitled to receive a P 100,000 ‘centenarian gift,’ among other incentives provided by concerned local government units, as well as a Letter of Felicitation from the President.”
