Man facing 10 counts of rape in Sorsogon falls

SORSOGON CITY — A rape suspect, who is also one of the most wanted persons in the Bicol region, was arrested in Batangas province after hiding for two years, police said on Friday, March 17.

Joseph Laroga Jesalva, 49, a resident of Barangay San Isidro in Castilla town, Sorsogon province, was captured in Batangas’ San Juan town on March 14.

Jesalva was the most wanted person in Castilla, and the third most wanted in Sorsogon.

Authorities said the suspect went into hiding after being charged with 10 counts of rape in 2021.

Jesalva’s arrest was based on a warrant issued by a local family court.

He was placed in police custody with no recommended bail.
