Maguindanao education exec shot dead
COTABATO CITY – A soon-to-retire education official in Maguindanao was shot and killed while she was taking a nap in her home in Kabacan, North Cotabato Monday, police said.
Taya Sabal Las Marias, 52, was taking a siesta in front of her boarding house along University of Southern Mindanao Avenue, Kabacan when a man arrived at 1:30 p.m. on board a motorbike driven by another man.
Without provocation, the suspect pulled a caliber 45 and repeatedly shot the defenseless education official.
Las Marias sustained five gunshot wounds in the head and body and was declared dead on arrival at the Kabacan Doctor’s Hospital.
Police remained clueless on the motive of the attack.
The DepEd regional office in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao has condemned the shooting of Las Marias. It called for speedy and impartial investigation.
