32 dead, 78 injured during Lenten break–NDRRMC
MANILA, Philippines — Thirty-two people died, 78 injured and three were reported missing during the Lenten break, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said Tuesday.
Some of the fatalities were listed as Philip Andaya, 27, from Bangar, La Union (drowning); Rodante Frejilana, 50, San Fernando City, La Union (drowning); Orlando Gaona, 54, Bacnotan, La Union (drowning); Chris Ian Gorospe, 18, Isabela (vehicular accident); Jessie Reyes, 20, Isabela (vehicular accident); Alexis Orogo, 28, Nueva Ecija (vehicular accident); John Mark Ferreras, 21 and Sammy Vasquez, 33, in Samal, Bataan (vehicular accident); Conrado Rodriguez, 54, Mariveles and Jesus Rubio, 43, Mariveles (vehicular accident).
Five minors drowned in separate incidents in Quezon, Tarlac, Pangasinan and Cagayan.
Meanwhile, 78 were reported injured and three were still missing.
One of the missing, Jose Lonel Castillo, 24, was last seen at the riverbanks of Pulay in Luna, Isabela, the NDRRMC said.
The NDRRMC activated the red alert status during the Holy Week.
