LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte—Two separate vehicular accidents led to the deaths of a two-year-old boy and a 38-year-old person with disability in two towns in Ilocos Norte province, police said Tuesday, March 14.

The boy, who was identified by authorities as Charles Gian Kenept from Benito Soliven town, Isabela province, died after he was accidentally ran over by his uncle’s van in Vintar town in Ilocos Norte.

Police said the van’s driver was the victim’s uncle, identified as Wilson Garcia, 45, also a resident of Benito Soliven.

The young boy was peeing in front of the parked van when Garcia failed to notice the boy while trying to move the vehicle, bumping the victim.

Police said the victim sustained a “fatal head injury” and was declared dead on arrival at a health facility in the town.

In Ilocos Norte’s Paoay town, a person with disability, whom police identified as Gasat Cabuyadao, was hit by a Toyota Innova that was traveling southward while crossing a thoroughfare along the Paoay-Bacarra road in the town.

Police said the vehicle was driven by Raymond Benas, 30, of Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte.

Cabuyadao was also declared dead on arrival by attending physicians at a medical facility in nearby Batac City. INQ
