Philhealth prepares RNHeals nurses, midwives for deployment

PHILHEALTH Region 7 joined on Thursday the orientation of nurses and midwives who will be deployed to hospitals and other health facilities in the Central Visayas.

The third batch of 307 nurses and 87 midwives that will be deployed in the province of Cebu under the Department of Health’s Registered Nurses for Health Empowerment and Local Service of the Department of Health (DOH-RNHeals) were briefed how to deal with PhilHealth-related concerns in their places of assignment.

During the two-day pre-deployment orientation held at the DOH region 7 office in Cebu City, PhilHealth social insurance officers discussed the key points of the program, such as membership, benefits and the rules on benefit availment.

Annie Lucero, DOH-7 representative to Mandaue City, Consolacion and San Remigio, said it is important for RNHeals nurses and midwives to know about PhilHealth because the patients or their family members may have questions about their benefits.

RNHeals nurses and midwives assigned in the province of Negros Oriental already had their two-day pre-deployment orientation earlier last month. A similar orientation was held on April 2 and 3 in Bohol for those who will be assigned in that province.

In keeping with the goals of Universal Health Care, the DOH, in partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development, organized the deployment of the third batch of RNHeals to ensure the delivery of essential health goods and social services to all Filipinos, especially the poor.
