KORONADAL CITY – A businesswoman was killed while her husband was critically injured in an early morning ambush along a road in Barangay Fatima, General Santos City on Tuesday.
Col. Jomar Alexis Yap, General Santos City police director, identified the victim as Amelia Tajala, 52, a resident Purok 5, Block 7, Barangay Fatima.
She was declared dead on arrival at the GenSan Medical Center while her husband, Belgar, 51, who was driving the Mitsubishi Montero vehicle (MFN-927), was critically injured.
The victims were heading to the fishport where they managed a fish and moneylending business when waylaid by two gunmen on board a motorbike at 4:45 a.m.
After the shooting, the suspects fled on the same motorbike.
Police found 16 empty shells for caliber .45 pistol at the crime scene.
