MANILA, Philippines — The Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT-1) will be on a Holy Week break from April 6-9, the Light Rail Manila Corp. (LRMC) has announced.

LRMC said in a statement Tuesday that it will conduct necessary maintenance activities during the suspension of its operations. Normal operations will resume on April 10.

“The temporary suspension of LRT-1 operations this Holy Thursday until Easter Sunday will allow us to do necessary activities that include annual preventive maintenance works and upgrades to better serve our dear passengers,” said LRMC Chief Operating Officer Rolando Paulino III.

“This is on the back of our commitment to providing safe, reliable, and convenient journeys to commuters of LRT-1. We advise the public to plan their trips in advance,” he added.

The LRMC also announced that LRT-1 will have normal service hours from April 3-5, or Holy Monday to Holy Wednesday, which is 4:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Aside from LRT-1, other train lines – LRT-2 and MRT-3 – have declared the temporary suspension of their respective operations from April 6-9 to also carry out maintenance works amid the Holy Week.
