Clean-up launched in oil spill-affected Taytay town in Palawan, says PCG

MANILA, Philippines — In a bid to stem the oil spill damage in Palawan’s Taytay town, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) on Tuesday said it conducted a joint clean-up activity in the area over the weekend.

The joint clean-up and oil spill monitoring team worked on the 50-meter shoreline of Barangay Calawag on Sunday, March 12, and collected one drum of oily wastewater and debris.

The team also gathered water samples for further analysis.

Oil spill from the sunken MT Princess Empress off Oriental Mindoro province has reached the shores of Taytay, which is 295 kilometers away from Naujan town where the fuel tanker submerged.
