PH superflyweight title match in Lapu

Marco Demecillo Singwangcha of the RWS Gym will challenge Philippine superflyweight champion Marvin Mabait of Zamboanga City for the latter’s crown on April 22 at the Mactan Lapu-Lapu Shrine in Lapu-Lapu City.

The undefeated Demecillo (15W-0L-1D, 11KOs) is one of the top fighters promoted by Rex “Wakee” Salud and sponsored by Thai boxing patron Naris Singwangcha.

He won the interim version of the Philippine title last year in Liloan, Cebu by stopping Louie Bantigue in nine rounds. To prepare for the fight, Marco has sparred with the popular world champion Japanese brothers Koki and Daiki Kameda last month at the RWS Gym.

Mabait (16W-0L-2D,10 KOs) is also undefeated and is a mainstay of the Blue Stallion Stable of Zamboanga Representative Erico Basilio Fabian.

Mabait has undergone training in the Peñalosa boxing stable. He won the title last January with a unanimous decision win over Rey Perez. His last fight in Cebu was at the Cebu Coliseum last June 2011 where he stopped Aljun Salogaol in seven rounds.

Mabait and Demecillo has faced each other early in their careers and the fight ended in a four-round majority draw at the Cebu Coliseum.

The undercards will feature light flyweights Fernando “Batang Bato” Ocon of the RWS gym against Jay-R Estremos of Baguio City (10 rounds), miniflyweights Marlou Sandoval Singwangcha of the RWS Gym and Marlo Talili of Bohol who will fight for eight rounds and Jayson Redondo Singwangcha of the RWS Gym will fight with Jayvee Alipio also from Baguio City for eight rounds at 126 lbs.
