Journalist Luis V. Teodoro dies at 81

MANILA, Philippines — Luis V. Teodoro, a journalist and former Dean of the College of Mass Communications at the University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman, passed away on Monday at 81 years old, according to the college on Tuesday.

A now-deleted post from the UP College of Mass Communications said his date of death was on Tuesday, not Monday.

“We join our friends and colleagues in communication and media in mourning the passing of Professor Luis V. Teodoro, our Dean from 1994 to 2000,” said the UP College of Mass Communication in a Facebook post.

An established journalist and educator, Teodoro was also a chair of the Commission on Higher Education’s Technical Committee of Journalism Education. He has a Master’s in Arts Program in Comparative Literature and Asian Studies, according to Arellano University’s website.

He was working as the deputy director of the Center for Media Freedom and Responsibility and was an editor for the Philippine Journalism Review.
