MANILA, Philippines — The Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) on Monday announced that it would suspend LRT-2 operations from April 6-9 as the nation observes Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Black Saturday, and Easter Sunday.

LRTA Administrator Hernando Cabrera said they would conduct thorough maintenance on LRT-2 trains, station facilities, and equipment from April 6-9 to ensure the system’s reliability and safety.

This year, its public advisory on LRT-2’s Holy Week schedule also indicated that the railway will have shortened service on April 5, Holy Wednesday, from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m.

“We normally take advantage of the Holy Week to perform our yearly maintenance activities. With this, we appeal for understanding from the riding public and request that they plan their trip and take alternative transportation during this period,” Cabrera said.

Normal LRT-2 operations will resume on April 10, he added.
