Assault rifle used in killing Degamo recovered from suspects

MANILA, Philippines — A rifle confiscated from one of the suspects in the murder of Negros Oriental Gov. Roel Degamo and eight others was confirmed to be one of the weapons used during the massacre, said Philippine National Police Spokesperson Jean Fajardo on Saturday.

A total of four suspects are in police custody, while another suspect died during a shootout.

“Yung assault rifle mismo na ginamit po kay Governor Degamo is one of the recovered assault rifle po nung during the follow-up. Confirmed po iyon based on the ballistic and cross-matching po. Remember po na 11 po ang lahat ng tama ni Degamo and one of the assault rifles po recovered, galing doon,” said Fajardo.
