2 Catanduanes fishermen reported missing found safe in Albay

2 fishermen drown in Albay mining pit, 2 others missing

VIRAC, Catanduanes– The two fishermen from Bato, Catanduanes who were earlier reported missing at sea on Friday evening, were found safe on Saturday morning, March 11, in Rapu-Rapu island in Albay.

The Bato Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (LDRRMO) said that Ramir Tapit, 60, and Ramir Palomer, 63, both residents of Barangay (village) Binanuahan in Bato were found in Barangay Banosawan, Rapu-Rapu. 

Tapit and Palomer went fishing at 4 a.m. Friday together with other fishermen on a banca, an earlier report said.

At 1 p.m, the fishermen were able to return tot Barangay Binanuahan except for Tapit and Palomer.

Tapit and Palomer failed to return immediately after the engine of their motor banca malfunctioned off Rapu-Rapu.

Arrangements have been made to bring the two fishermen back to Barangay Binanuahan.  (JONA MAE CAMACHO, CONTRIBUTOR)
