MANILA, Philippines — Fair weather conditions are expected this weekend as only a few cloud bands were seen moving above the country, with the northeast monsoon or amihan still the prevalent weather system according to state meteorologists.

Weather updates from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) on Friday afternoon showed that the potential low-pressure area (LPA) circulation south of Mindanao will not yet affect the country’s landmass as of now.

It may start bringing rain by next week if it moves closer to Mindanao, but no LPA or tropical cyclone was spotted inside the Philippine area of responsibility.

For Saturday, Pagasa said that temperatures may still be relatively lower due to the amihan, ranging from 19 to 30 degrees Celsius over Tuguegarao; 21 to 30 degrees in Laoag; 13 to 20 degrees in Baguio; 20 to 30 degrees in Metro Manila and Tagaytay; 23 to 30 degrees in Legazpi; and 24 to 30 degrees in Puerto Princesa.

It would be slightly warmer down south, as temperatures over the Visayas range from 24 to 32 degrees Celsius in Tacloban; 25 to 32 degrees in Cebu; 25 to 30 degrees in Iloilo; 25 to 33 degrees in Zamboanga; 23 to 30 degrees in Cagayan de Oro; and 23 to 34 degrees in Davao.

As of now, no gale warning has been raised in any part of the country, which means small boat operators and fisherfolk can set sail in any part of the country’s waters.
