MANILA, Philippines — An Indian national has been arrested in Quezon City for an alleged robbery hold-up, police said Friday.

The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), in a report, said suspect Jagdeep Singh Brar, 30, was collared on Thursday night in Barangay Pasong Putik Proper, Novaliches.

Citing the account of victim Teody Gines Dichoso Jr., police said the former was sitting by the gutter while waiting for a car booking when the suspect supposedly took his bag at gunpoint.

Dichoso, according to the NCRPO, resisted and sought assistance from the Quezon City police, which resulted in Brar’s immediate arrest.

Recovered from the suspect were a .38 caliber revolver with two live ammunition and one fired cartridge case.

NCRPO said its initial investigation revealed that Brar had lost his business on installment loan schemes, which pushed him to commit the crime.

Complaints for robbery hold-up and violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act are being readied against Brar, it added. — Denver Godezano, trainee
