MANILA, Philippines — Return to the Philippines and face the accusations, Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. told Negros Oriental 3rd District Representative Arnolfo Teves on Friday.

Teves, currently in the United States, was being named by arrested suspects as the mastermind in the murder of Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo.

“Kailangan niyang bumalik sa Pilipinas at harapin ang mga alegasyon. That is just the most prudent and right thing to do lalo na at isa siyang halal na opisyal. Linisin niya ang kanyang pangalan kung talagang wala siyang kinalaman,” Revilla said in a statement.

(He needs to return to the Philippines to face the allegations. That is the most prudent and right thing to do, especially since he is elected. Then, clear his name if he is innocent.)

“Flight is an indication of guilt at kung wala siyang kinalaman, hindi niya gugustuhin na ganun ang mangyari,” he explained,” he added.

(Flight is an indication of guilt; if he is innocent, he would not want that to happen.)

Further, Revilla called on suspects at large to surrender, even as President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. was overseeing the issue.

Authorities currently have four suspects in their custody.

Degamo and eight other individuals were shot inside his residence in Pamplona town on March 4. The slain governor’s family sees politics as the attack’s principal motive.
