MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) said Friday that it plans to expand its parade grounds and name it after the late former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr.
According to the PNPA director, Police Maj. General Eric Noble, the expanded parade grounds will be as wide as the Borromeo field within Philippine Military Academy’s (PMA) vicinity in Baguio.
“Kanina ay nailahad ang plano para sa sang mas malawak na parade grounds na nais po naming ipangalan bilang Marcos field kasing lawak po ito ng Borromeo field sa PMA sa baguio,” Noble said during in his opening remarks at the 44th Commencement Exercises of the PNPA on Friday.
(Earlier, we revealed our plan for a broader parade grounds and name it Marcos field. This will be as wide as the PMA Borromeo field in Baguio.)
Aside from this, Noble said that PNPA also aims to raise its education quality by forming a core of professors and improving its facilities, among others.
He also highlighted Marcos Sr.’s contribution to the academy, mentioning Presidential Decree No. 1780, which provides the PNPA with an academic chapter and expanded curricular programs.
Noble delivered this speech before the 208 cadets from Masidtalak Class of 2023 graduated from the academy.
In an earlier statement, PNPA said that out of the 208 cadets, 86 would join the Philippine National Police (PNP), 11 would join the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and 11 would sign up for the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP).
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. led the event with chiefs and officials from the PNP, BFP, and BJMP, among others.
