He pointed out that the platform will be instrumental in raising the quality of public service, particularly in lawmaking, representation and oversight functions of the legislative branch of government.
“To carry out this crucial role, it is imperative that both houses of Congress exercise constant collaboration, coordination, and sharing of information towards people-centered legislative governance,” Romualdez said in a message read by delivered by former president Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, who is also the House Senior Deputy Speaker and Pampanga Representative.
Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri also said the platform “will lead to the more efficient passage of laws” since it will strengthen the coordination between both chambers of Congress.
For Senate President Pro Tempore Loren Legarda, the platform will “ensure alignment of national strategy.”
“As more data is shared and secured, it can be synthesized into useful information for decision-making,’’ Legarda also said.
The e-Congress is meant to digitize their processes, services and records since it will provide updates on the status of bills and resolutions and report legislative undertakings. — Vance Chan, INQUIRER.net trainee
