P34 million worth of shabu uncovered in Sulu buy-bust operation

MANILA, Philippines — Authorities have arrested a female suspect and uncovered P34 million of suspected crystal meth, or “shabu,” in a buy-bust operation conducted in Sulu province.

Suspect Morasang Nasang Jaiyari was arrested in an entrapment operation launched by the police, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Sulu BARMM, and the military on March 7 at around 5 p.m., the Philippine National Police – Public Information Office (PNP-PIO) said Wednesday.

Meanwhile, his cohort, a certain Albasir, escaped the authorities during the buy-bust operations.

The law enforcement team seized approximately 5.30 kilograms or eight sachets containing suspected shabu worth P34,204,000, a mobile phone, and a sling bag.

The arrested suspect will face charges for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and authorities brought the confiscated evidence to PDEA Sulu BARMM for documentation and proper disposition.
