PUERTO PRINCESA CITY — A fire razed down around 20 houses in three neighboring barangays (villages) in this city on Wednesday afternoon (March 8).

The Bureau of Fire Protection in Puerto Princesa City said the houses in Barangays Mabuhay, Masigla, and Pagkakaisa were hit by the blaze which started at around 1:30 p.m

The blaze was declared under control at 2:30 p.m.

“The situation was serious now that days are hotter and it was also windy which spread the fire around. We also found it hard to respond to three areas at once — two ends of a street and another street where the fire had spread. But the good thing was that our auxiliary forces came quickly which was a great help to us,” Fire Superintendent Nilo Caabay, City Fire Marshal, told Inquirer in an interview.

Investigation into the origin of the fire and inventory of losses is still being done by the fire department.
