MANILA, Philippines—Authorities are looking into the motive behind the killing of a Civilian Active Auxiliary (CAA) member in Agusan del Sur before dawn Monday.
Superintendent Martin Gamba, Caraga police spokesman identified the victim as Zaldy Tapid, a member of the 23rd Infantry Brigade of the Philippine Army based at the Barangay (village) Noli, Bayugan City in Agusan del Sur.
He said Tapid was shot by a still unidentified suspect around 12:30 a.m. along the road crossing Talacogon and Zone 23 in Poblacion village, Prosperidad.
Tapid died on the spot after sustaining a gunshot wound in his lower right jaw.
His remains were brought to Dollete Funeral Homes in San Francisco, Agusan del Sur, according to Gamba.
