Number coding still lifted Monday—MMDA

/ 11:06 AM April 09, 2012

MANILA, Philippines—Metropolitan Manila Development Authority’s Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program, better known as the number coding scheme, was still lifted Monday.

Laila Marcelo, an MMDA Metrobase official, said the suspension is in line with the commemoration of the Araw ng Kagitingan, a regular holiday, where coding scheme is automatically lifted.

Under this scheme, vehicles with plate numbers ending in 1 and 2 are not allowed to travel every Monday on major roads in Metro Manila.

The number coding scheme has been lifted since Monday last week in preparation for the influx of motorists leaving for their provinces for the Holy Week.
