MANILA, Philippines — In celebration of Women’s Month, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) will launch anti-Violence Against Women and Children’s (VAWC) desks in selected areas in Quezon City, said the agency on Friday.
According to the DSWD, the desks will be available at Robinsons Novaliches and Ever Gotesco, Commonwealth, from March 13 to 24.
“The anti-VAWC desks will be handled by social workers to provide appropriate information on anti-VAWC laws and interventions in case there will be victims who will report their experiences,” said the department in a statement.
The DSWD will also unveil a digital advocacy campaign highlighting women’s rights and laws that support women.
Wednesday will also be a “Purple Day” for the DSWD. The agency said this is to support the Philippine Commission on Women’s campaign to raise awareness for women’s issues.
“As the month-long celebration has already commenced, the Department encourages the public to observe and participate in the National Women’s Month celebration in recognition of the significant contributions of the women sector in nation-building,” said the DSWD.
